Is smoke damage worse than fire damage?

There was a lot of damage in this building after some of the equipment started on fire. The damage was not in the sense of burned items but smoke damage.

Smoke damage is still really bad for these reasons:

• The hotter that smoke gets the worse the damage will become
• Metal buildings since smoke particles become ionized and magnetic.

Because of their magnetic charge smoke particles will stick to metal more strongly than it would normal paint and sheetrock.
